Kelsey Pierce

Chief of Staff

Kelsey provides senior leadership and management for IHME’s Director’s Office, including relationship management, communications, priority setting, and facilitation of institutional decision-making. She is an emissary to IHME’s strategic collaborators and orchestrates key relationships with external organizations to increase uptake of results and increase global visibility. Kelsey also shepherds the Roux Prize, a marquee award for those who demonstrate an impact on population health through innovative use of evidence, and the GBD Emerging Researcher Award, to support early-career researchers who are advancing GBD methods and research. She orchestrates the Scientific Publications team, ensuring high-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals as a backbone of IHME’s scientific credibility. 

 

Kelsey joined IHME soon after its inception in 2007. Prior to her current position, she managed a wide range of international research projects on topics including malaria control, child mortality, burden of disease estimation, and improvement of vital statistics through verbal autopsy. Kelsey earned her MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, and her BA from Scripps College.
