Meghan Mooney

Director, Engagement and Partnerships

Meghan is responsible for developing and implementing the long-term strategic goals for IHME’s engagement activities across the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Collaborator Network and key institutional partnerships with the ultimate goals of informing decision-making that improves health policy and practice. She builds strategic relationships with global health organizations, NGOs, policymakers, and research institutions in different countries. Partnership and collaboration are key to how IHME achieves its mission, and as leader of the Global Engagement and Outreach Team, Meghan plays a significant role in fostering and sustaining mutually beneficial high-value relationships.  

Meghan joined IHME in December 2012 as a project officer focused primarily on verbal autopsy. Her role later expanded to managing the demographics and HIV research teams. She oversaw the paper production for many of the Global Burden of Disease 2013 scientific publications and became an integral part of the GBD management team for GBD 2015. 

With her strong guidance and direct involvement, partnerships have been created and strengthened with groups in many countries, including Brazil, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Italy, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. The GBD Collaborator Network has burgeoned to over 10,000 members from 162 countries under her leadership. She has led trainings on the GBD and presented in multiple countries around the world.
