At the Arab Health Congress’s 2nd Big Data Conference, Professor of Global Health Ali Mokdad, Director of Middle Eastern Initiatives at IHME, presents “The state of health in the Arab world, 1990–2010: an analysis of the burden of diseases, injuries, and risk factors.” This paper is based on the Global Burden of Disease study, which draws on numerous data sources to measure epidemiological trends globally and in specific countries and regions. Dr. Mokdad also participates on a panel discussion of national-level strategies for developing health information systems that can help identify looming problems. The conference focuses on big data in healthcare and how it can be used to lower costs while improving clinical interactions.
