IHME Director of Geospatial Science Simon I. Hay will lead a workshop focused on Ebola virus disease (EVD) February 25–26, in Accra, Ghana, through a joint partnership between the Institute for Health Metrics (IHME) and the INDEPTH Network, with funding support from the Paul G. Allen Ebola Program.
Stakeholders and decision-makers from 22 countries at risk of Ebola are expected to attend the workshop. Researchers will present on the geographical distribution of the zoonotic niche for Ebola virus disease in Africa. Discussion will focus on preparedness planning to improve early detection and effective response to Ebola virus disease in their country.
INDEPTH Network is a global network of health and demographic surveillance systems (HDSS) that provide a more complete picture of the health status of communities. The network consists of 46 member centers in 20 countries throughout Africa, Asia, and Oceania.
