Professor Ali Mokdad will present midterm performance results of the Salud Mesoamérica 2015 Initiative (SM2015) at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Following this talk, Chris Elias, President of the Gates Foundation’s Global Development program, will lead a panel discussion of successes, challenges, and lessons learned from this large-scale program, providing an opportunity to understand how this type of model can be applied to other health delivery programs.

SM2015, a results-based financing program, focuses on improving maternal and child health by improving the coverage of immunizations, reproductive services, maternal care, and child health services among the poorest 20% of the population in the eight participating Mesoamerican countries: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and the Chiapas state of Mexico.
