The GBD online training provides a general overview of the GBD and helps learners understand the conceptual framework, the key metrics, and the analytical strategies used in the GBD. This online course also provides interactive opportunities to use and explore GBD results through our visualization tools, and examples of how to translate GBD evidence into action.
The GBD online training curriculum is composed of a series of 19 modules that cover a broad range of content intended to provide skill and knowledge development in key areas.
- Foundation modules provide an opportunity to explore and understand key terms and concepts, principles, analytical strategy and conceptual framework.
- Case study modules help cultivate learners’ ability to bring together knowledge and skills from various elements of the GBD. Case studies help make connections between the different analytical processes and steps and enhance learners’ ability to use of GBD results and tools.
- Modules illustrating how the GBD can be used to improve the world’s health explore real world examples of how GBD has been used by individuals or groups to influence health policy and improve health at local, regional or global levels.
This training is appropriate for individuals who are looking for an introduction to the GBD. This includes researchers, academic leaders, students, policymakers, governmental employees, and staff from private and non-profit organizations, foundations, and national and multinational health organizations.
