The registration fee includes tuition, academic materials, accommodations, and three meals per day, and free access to the GBD online course. Please note that the fee does not include the cost of airfare, visa fees, or other travel expenses to Eretria, Greece. The accommodation portion of this fee covers one room in the Negroponte hotel with check in on Sunday, May 24, 2020 and check out on Saturday, May 30, 2020. Staying fewer than the included 6 nights at the hotel will not result in a reduced registration fee.
Yes, we work with a local event agency that will arrange ground transportation for attendees. Once you have registered for the workshop, they will contact you asking for your arrival and departure information in and out of Athens in order to arrange this for you.
All individuals are welcome to apply for the scholarship for the GBD Technical Workshop. Individuals who are interested in attending the workshop and unable to pay the registration fee can apply for a scholarship. Scholarship applications were due on January 14, 2020. The full scholarship includes tuition, academic materials, accommodations, and meals from the evening of Sunday, May 24th through the morning of Saturday, May 30th. Ground transportation from the Athens International Airport to the Negroponte Resort, and from the Negroponte Resort to the Athens International Airport is also included. Visa fees are not included in the scholarship award. For those scholarship recipients awarded full scholarship with airfare, the airfare award includes economy class airfare up to a maximum of $2,000 USD. Receipt of the airfare award will be communicated directly to those recipients.
Meals are provided in the Levante Restaurant in the Negroponte Resort, where the workshop is held. Please read more about the restaurant on the resort website.

The workshop days are filled with classroom lectures, discussion, and activities. The evenings include optional evening sessions for further learning as well as opportunities to connect and learn from the other participants in attendance. We recommend arriving in Greece early or staying on after the workshop in order to include some sightseeing.
Workshop participants are welcome to bring family members or dependents while attending the GBD Technical Workshop. If you are interested in travelling with additional people who will not attend the workshop, please contact [email protected]. Please note that registration fees only include costs for the registered participant and does not include the fees associated with accommodating other guests.
Yes, the hotel is equipped with wifi that all attendees will be able to use in and outside of workshop settings.
The language of instruction at the workshop is English. Workshop sessions will not be offered in multiple languages.
The Negroponte Resort provides several disability access points and an accessible hotel room can be made available upon request. There are elevators next to the main entrance and hotel facilities including the workshop conference rooms, restaurant, and hotel rooms. Yes, all registrants for the GBD Technical Workshop must complete all modules of the Introduction to the GBD Online course. The workshop sessions will build off of the material and content covered in the online course. Please allocate at least 12 hours to complete the course and the quiz ahead of traveling to Greece.
The dress code is business casual; however, participants are welcome to dress in business attire if that is more comfortable or preferred for them. In terms of weather, Greece can experience a mix of sunshine and rain during the month of May. We recommend checking the local weather prior to your travel and packing.
We recommend bringing business cards to connect with peers throughout the workshop.
Laptops are required for this workshop. Should you need access to a laptop, please contact us at [email protected]. Learning activities will rely heavily on the use of Google Chrome and Microsoft Office. We do not recommend using tablets or phones in place of a laptop. Depending on where you will be travelling from, you may need to bring adapters and converters for your electronics.
