The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) is an independent research center at the University of Washington. Its mission is to monitor global health conditions and health systems, as well as to evaluate interventions, initiatives, and reforms. It uses cutting-edge approaches to tackle some of the most difficult and most critical questions in global health and to find answers that become the foundation for better policies and, ultimately, better health.

IHME has an outstanding opportunity for a Digital Marketing Officer to join our Marketing and Communications (M&C) Team. The newly-created Digital Marketing Officer role will be responsible for overseeing the creation of digital marketing content targeting external and internal audiences for one of the leading global health research organizations in the world. Through various channels, this person will take IHME’s digital media assets and visibility to greater levels of viewership and influence. Internally, this person will support and contribute to an engaging internal communications strategy to educate, inform, and enlighten staff, faculty, and senior leaders.

Responsibilities Include:

Content Marketing Strategy and Management

  • Set guidelines for tone, style, and voice of all social media and other digital content
  • Implement a comprehensive system for measuring the influence of the Institute’s digital communications
  • Manage external communications and promotional activities related to upcoming research, engagements, and other efforts
  • Collaborate on executing IHME’s digital strategy

Internal Communications

  • Collaborate to produce internal communications about key initiatives, changes, notifications, etc.

Research Learning

  • Become familiar with IHME’s projects, learning the key personnel, and developing an understanding of key institutional actors in global health

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in digital marketing and content strategy and management.
  • Two years’ experience with search engine optimization practices for social and digital content

Additional Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Thorough understanding of digital and social media platforms and how to leverage them to further organizational goals
  • Familiarity with digital content monitoring software
  • Demonstrated ability to think independently, be flexible, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Experience in metrics and analytics for digital communications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; a cooperative and collaborative team player, energetic, able to develop productive relationships with IHME leadership, colleagues, and consultants
  • Strong strategic and creative thinking and demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Desired

  • Familiarity with using culturally sensitive and inclusive language and telling stories that accurately and equitably represent diverse populations
  • Experience in global health
  • Two or more languages spoken conversationally
  • Video shooting and editing
  • Photography experience

Conditions of Employment:

  • Evening and weekend work sometimes required
  • Up to 10% travel required
