The purpose of the program is to prepare fellows for future positions in academia, national health agencies, international organizations, and foundations. Fellows play a critical role in ongoing research projects at IHME. The program and duties of each fellow are tailored to create a research experience that develops skills in health metrics, building on the core proficiencies from their doctoral training.
Fellows work within research teams consisting of faculty, researchers, data specialists, and Post-Bachelor Fellows. Post-Graduate Fellows are expected to help drive research forward from inception to publication and dissemination.
Fellows have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of health metrics, acquire new analytical skills, and explore new areas of investigation. Fellows attend methods workshops and on-site lectures and seminars, and have access to all courses offered at the University of Washington.
