In 2020, researchers at the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation projected that the global fertility rate will drop below 1.7 by the end of this century. 

Para poner orden e intentar despejar dudas sobre la calidad de estas y otras recomendaciones, un grupo de investigadores coordinado desde el Instituto de Métrica y Evaluación Sanitaria (IHME) de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Washington, en Seattle, ha desarollado un nuevo sistema de metanalisis de estudios sobre factores de riesgo e impacto en la salud.

L'IHME (Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation) américain, qui fait référence dans les statistiques de santé, a passé en revue la recherche dans 180 domaines, pour déterminer à quel point un facteur de risque, comme fumer des cigarettes, est lié à des conséquences de santé, comme le cancer du poumon.

A new tool from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, unveiled Monday in Nature Medicine, uses a 5-star rating system to show how much evidence exists to support some diet and lifestyle changes.

Although the probability of having chronic health problems from COVID is relatively low, the vast number of cases -- at least 670 million worldwide -- leaves a substantial burden of disability, said Christopher Murray, director of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington, where the study was conducted. 

 Twelve mental-health conditions affect about 970m people around the world according to the Global Burden of Disease Project: more than one in ten of the population.

The biggest cause of death in China is strokes, followed by heart disease, chronic pulmonary disease and then lung cancer, according to the global burden of disease study produced by the US Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation.

The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, or IHME, a research organization at the University of Washington that regularly models Covid deaths, predicts a decline in Covid deaths over the next two months.

According to findings from the Lancet’s Global Burden of Disease study in 2019, Brunei has 1,574 cases of dementia, with the figure expected to rise to 7,317 by 2050, Health Minister Haji Mohd Isham said. 

Chris Murray, director of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, estimates that only 4% to 5% of infections are being reported, because so many are uncovered through at-home tests and aren't reported to public health departments, or they aren't being detected at all.

In The Lancet Commission published Wednesday, authors detailed “massive global failures” that led to more than 6.9 million reported deaths and ultimately an estimated 17.2 million deaths, as reported by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation.

"What has happened is [people in] the states where they refused to get the vaccine, or were hesitant to get the vaccine, got infected," Dr. Ali Mokdad, an epidemiologist with the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation in Seattle, told ABC News. "What we are seeing is due to waning immunity, we are going to enter winter with a higher percentage of people who are susceptible."
