Lifetime breast cancer risk (Global), 2010

Globally, the chance that a woman would develop breast cancer during her lifetime was 5.5% in 2010, as shown in IHME’s policy report The Challenge Ahead: Progress and Setbacks in Breast and Cervical Cancer. However, clear regional patterns vary greatly from this average, with very high incidence in the high-income countries of North America, Australasia, and Western Europe and very low risk in some countries in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.
