Summary Conduct disorder (CD) resulted in 4·87 million (95% UI 2·74–7·62) global DALYs in 2019, equivalent to 0·2% (0·1–0·3) of DALYs. CD contributed to 3·9% (2·6–5·5) of DALYs for the aggregate of mental disorders.

Definition CD occurs in those under 18 years of age and incorporates disability from antisocial behaviour that violates basic rights of others or major age-appropriate societal norms. DSM-IV-TR (312.81–312.89) and ICD-10 (F91) diagnostic criteria were used.

What is new in GBD 2019?
  • •There were new data sources added, including data for six locations that previously had no data.
  • •GBD 2017 included a downward adjustment to estimates incorporating the prevalence of both CD and oppositional defiant disorder. The vast majority of these estimates came from studies that also reported the prevalence of CD and oppositional defiant disorder separately. In GBD 2019, these were replaced with the prevalence for CD only as per the above case definition.
