Biography

Christina Fitzmaurice, MD, MPH, is an Affiliate Assistant Professor at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington, and Attending physician of Hematology/Oncology at St. Charles Medical System. As a member of the HMS faculty, Dr. Fitzmaurice provides opportunities to further develop research and potential educational collaborations related to cancer epidemiology research. She will collaborate with IHME on improving estimation of cancer incidence in countries where data is sparse through the development of mortality to incidence models, in addition to studying patterns of disparities in cancer morbidity among US counties.

Dr. Fitzmaurice's education and training include an M.D. from the University of Heidelberg, Germany, a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, residency in internal medicine at the University of Wisconsin and a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Washington/Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle. Her research interest is in global oncology, and cancer disparities.

IHME was established at the University of Washington in Seattle in 2007. Its mission is to improve health through better health evidence.
