Yohannes Kinfu

Affiliate Associate Professor

Dr Yohannes Kinfu, PhD, is an Affiliate Associate Professor of Health Metrics Sciences at the Institute for Health Metrics Sciences at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington.  Dr. Kinfu is a demographer and economist by training. He is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Canberra, Australia.  During his career, Yohannes held academic positions at The Australian National University, The University of Queensland, Qatar University and Addis Ababa University, among others. He has also worked as a Statistician at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva and served as the Leader of the Nairobi Urban Health and Demographic Surveillance Site (NUHDSS) at the African Population and Health Research Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. Yohannes’s research interests include medical demography, global health metrics and healthcare economics in low-and-middle-income countries.
