Tim Exton is a Communications Officer with the Global Engagement Team at IHME. His primary role is to serve as the Institute's storyteller, using words, video, and photography to present the human stories behind the data.
Prior to joining IHME in January 2020, Tim worked as a freelance video journalist for news agencies, such as Reuters and AFP, covering science and technology, as well as general and breaking news. His previous work includes documentaries for the BBC and National Geographic, articles for The Guardian and The Seattle Times, and assignments in 20-plus countries from Algeria to Zambia.
A native of the United Kingdom, Tim received his Bachelor of Arts in History from Swansea University, and moved to the United States 20 years ago, becoming a citizen in 2018.
IHME was established at the University of Washington in Seattle in 2007. Its mission is to improve health through better health evidence.
