Seventeen members of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) faculty are among the academics named on the Highly Cited Researchers 2022 list from Clarivate, a global leader in providing information and insights to accelerate the pace of innovation.

Faculty and affiliate faculty from IHME at the University of Washington (UW) make 17 appearances in a list of some 6,900 researchers from around the world who demonstrated significant influence in their chosen field or fields through the publication of multiple highly cited papers during the past decade (2011–2021). Since last year, the number of IHME researchers who made an appearance increased by 42%.

With 47 highly cited researchers, the UW is ranked #19 in the top 50 cited institutions.

The Highly Cited Researchers’ names are drawn from the publications that rank in the top 1% of citations for field and publication year in the Web of Science citation index.

The methodology that determines the “who’s who” of influential researchers draws on the data and analysis performed by bibliometric experts and data scientists at the Institute for Scientific Information at Clarivate.
