Biography
Michael MacIntyre is the Chief Strategy and Operations Officer at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington. He has been part of IHME since its inception. Michael oversees strategic planning, project implementation, and relationship management with key stakeholders. Additionally, he helps guide the development of new collaborations and endeavors, investigates opportunities for business development, manages the Administration and Operations team, and supports the IHME Board and the Scientific Oversight Group.
In prior positions, Michael has gained deep experience related to project management, strategic planning, institutional development and evaluation, training, and grant-writing in various roles at Harvard University, Boston University, and in a consulting role to several nonprofit organizations. The organizations for which he has worked have focused on a variety of public policy-related fields, including education, politics, community development, public service, and global health. Frequently, his professional roles have involved either redesigning the structure of existing units or building new ones.
Michael’s professional interests are driven by the desire to use creative and solution-oriented approaches to wed management and intellectual work in a focused and mission-driven manner. He holds degrees in both economics and education.
IHME was established at the University of Washington in Seattle in 2007. Its mission is to deliver to the world timely, relevant, and scientifically valid evidence to improve health policy and practice.
